» New Iway split

Providence: RIDOT has opened the Iway for traffic from I-195 West to I-95 South. The new split on I-195 West is immediately after Exit 3 (Gano St.) and the Washington Bridge. Detailed information and maps can be found at www.dot.ri.gov.

Cranston: I-95 NB between Exit 15 (Jefferson Blvd.) and Exit 16 (Rte. 10/Elmwood Ave.), three left lanes closed due to resurfacing, Friday, June 26 from 10 p.m. to noon on Saturday, June 27.

East Providence: On-ramp closed from Warren Ave. (Rte. 6) to I-195 WB, Tuesday night from 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for bridge work. Motorists on the East Shore Expressway/Wampanoag Trail (Rte. 114) NB will encounter lane restrictions after Gates of Heaven Cemetery.

Providence: I-95 SB between Exit 25 (Smithfield Ave.) and Exit 24 (Branch Ave.), two right lanes closed and lane restrictions for on-ramp from Smithfield Ave. and off-ramp to Branch Ave. due to resurfacing, Friday, June 26 from 10 p.m. to noon on Saturday, June 27.

Providence: I-195 WB between Exit 5 (Rte. 103/Warren Ave.) and I-95, possible lanes closures for Iway work, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Providence: I-195 WB, Exit 3 (Gano St.) closed for construction Tuesday & Wednesday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Warwick/Cranston: I-95 NB and SB from Exit 10 (Rte. 117) to Exit 16 (Rte. 10), possible lane and ramp restrictions for road sweeping, Monday night from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Smithfield: I-295 NB at between Exit 8 (Rte. 7) and Exit 9 (Rte. 146) SB), right shoulder closed for drainage work, Monday-Thursday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Friday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

City of Providence street closures

» overnight restriction

East Providence: On-ramp closed from Warren Ave. (Rte. 6) to I-195 WB, Tuesday night from 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for bridge work. Motorists on the East Shore Expressway/Wampanoag Trail (Rte. 114) NB will encounter lane restrictions after Gates of Heaven Cemetery.

Providence: Gano St. under I-195 overpass, expect lane closures due to bridge inspection, Tuesday & Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

E. Providence: Water St. under I-195 overpass, expect lane closures due to bridge inspection, Wednesday & Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Providence: Washington St. through Kennedy Plaza, left lane closure for market bazaar and farmer’s market, Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Providence: The City of Providence has scheduled numerous resurfacing and reconstruction projects this summer and fall. Click here for detailed information on all road and lane closure information in Providence.

Providence/E. Providence: New traffic pattern on the Henderson Bridge (Red Bridge) for bridge rehabilitation until Fall 2009:

  • Henderson Bridge WB, right lane closed as well as exit from Massasoit Ave. SB. Detour in place using Waterman Ave. and Taunton Ave. to N. Broadway.
  • Henderson Bridge EB, left lane closed. Bicycle and pedestrian traffic should use the southern (EB) sidewalk. See www.dot.ri.gov/bikeri for more information.

E. Providence: Willett Ave. (Rte. 103) from Charlotte St. to Metropolitan Park Dr., road closed for gas main installation by National Grid, weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. An occasional closure may be scheduled on Saturdays. Detour in place. Work scheduled through August 21.

Providence: Exchange St. at the Amtrak Station, closed to through traffic weekdays until mid-August for building construction.

Jamestown: Conanicus Ave. sea wall repair at the Bay View Dr. intersection. Possible one lane of alternating traffic weekdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. when heavy equipment is in use.

Portsmouth: Bristol Ferry Rd. (Rte. 114) from the Mt. Hope Bridge to West Main Rd., possible right lane closures due to sidewalk and curbing reconstruction, Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Portsmouth/Tiverton: Rte. 24 NB on the Sakonnet River Bridge between Exits 3 (Hummocks Ave. in Portsmouth) and 5 (Main Rd. in Tiverton), right lane closed for bridge work Monday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Barrington: Rte. 114 (Main St.) NB and SB, possible intermittent single lane closures between the Barrington Bridge and the Warren Bridge for utility work, Tuesday & Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Motorists may encounter one lane of alternating traffic.

Tiverton: Main Rd. (Rte. 138) NB from Warren Ave. to Massachusetts state line, various lane closures for curbing and sidewalk work, Monday-Saturday, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Bristol: Rte. 114 (Ferry Rd.) from Griswold Ave. to Low Lane, road closed Mondays-Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Fridays from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. for water main installation by Bristol County Water Authority and Roger Williams University. Detour in place using Metacom Ave. Work scheduled through July 2.

Warren: Rte. 103 (Child St.) from Metacom Ave. (Rte. 136) to Main St. (Rte. 114), road closed weekdays from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for gas main installation by National Grid. Detour in place. Work scheduled through July 24.

Portsmouth/Tiverton: Sakonnet Bridge (Rte. 24) posted for use by vehicles under 18 tons. Heavier vehicles must use alternate routes. The bridge is safe for passenger vehicles.
