Exit and Ramp Closures

I-95 logo Providence: Exit 22 (Downtown Providence/Routes 6 & 10) off of I-95 South will be closed for construction, Sunday and Monday nights from midnight to 6 a.m. the following day, and Tuesday night from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. Follow signed detour.

I-95 logo Warwick: Exit 14 (Rte. 37) and Exit 15 (Jefferson Blvd.) off of I-95 North will be closed for paving, Tuesday and Wednesday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. Access to I-95 North from Rte. 37 and from Jefferson Blvd. will also be closed. Follow signed detours.

I-295 logo Warwick/Cranston: Expect alternating lane closures in a moving operation for striping on I-295 North and South, at I-95 North and South, Sunday-Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.

I-295 logo Warwick to Cumberland: Expect alternating lane closures in a moving operation for striping on I-295 North and South, from I-95 in Warwick to the Massachusetts state line in Cumberland, including ramps, Sunday-Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.

Weekday

I-95 logo Hopkinton: I-95 South at Exit 1 (Rte. 3), possible right shoulder closure for sign work, Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

I-95 logo Warwick: I-95 North at Exit 15 (Jefferson Blvd.), right shoulder closed for bridge work, Monday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

I-295 logo Cumberland/Lincoln: I-295 North, from Exit 9 (Rte. 146) to Exit 10 (Rte. 122/Mendon Rd.), motorists will continue to encounter the existing left lane closure from Old River Rd. to the Mendon Rd. overpass, with the right and center lanes open to traffic.

I-295 logo Cumberland/Lincoln: Motorists will still encounter a left lane closure from Exit 11 (Rte. 114/Diamond Hill Rd.) to Exit 10 (Rte. 122/Mendon Rd.), however traffic will be maintained in the center and right lanes of I-295 South. Truck traffic will no longer be directed to the left lane and the crossover will now be closed to traffic. Traffic utilizing the I-295 South on-ramp from Mendon Rd. will still be required to yield to highway traffic.

I-195 logo East Providence: The East Shore Expressway Bridge over Warren Avenue (Exit 7 off of I-195 East) is posted for use by vehicles under 17 tons. Signed detour for heavier vehicles.

I-95 logo Warwick/West Warwick: I-95 North and South at Exit 8 (Rte. 2), lanes shifted to the left. Use caution entering and exiting the highway.

Rte 114 Rte 38 Bristol/Portsmouth and Newport/Jamestown: Lane closure information for the Mt. Hope Bridge and the Pell (Newport) Bridge is available from the R.I. Turnpike and Bridge Authority.

Rte 6 Providence: Rte. 6 East and West, from Rte. 10 to the Hartford Ave. exit, lanes shifted to the right for construction.

Rte 6 Providence: On the ramp from Hartford Ave. to Rte. 6 West, traffic must come to a complete stop before merging with traffic.

Rte 6 te 10 Providence: Truck traffic is restricted to the right lane from the Westminster St. overpass over Rte. 10 South/Rte. 6 West to the Rte. 6/Rte. 10 interchange, and on Rte. 6 East at the Rte. 6/Rte. 10 interchange.

Johnston: The Morgan Avenue Bridge is closed to traffic. Follow signed detours. The bridge is scheduled to reopen to traffic during this construction season.

Providence: A new traffic pattern is in effect on Wickenden St., from Benefit St. to the Point St. Bridge. Those traveling west on Wickenden St. will be restricted from turning left onto South Water St. To access I-195, motorists will turn right onto South Main St., left onto James St., and a left onto South Water St. to reach the on-ramp to I-195 East. Providence: Dyer St., between Clifford St. and Dorrance St., is now two-way, but parking is no longer permitted. This change is part of the reconstruction of Dyer St., between Dorrance St. and Orange St., and is scheduled to last through October. See Detour »

Providence: South Main St. North, from Wickenden St. to James St., travel lanes are narrowed and parking is no longer permitted through Summer 2014.

Providence: Dyer St., from Peck St. to Ship St., two-way traffic pattern in place for construction associated with the Iway (I-195 Relocation Project).

Providence: A lane shift exists on Wickenden St., from South Main St. to South Water St., for construction associated with the Iway (I-195 Relocation Project).

Bike Path Closures

Continuing

East Providence/Providence: The East Bay Bike Path over the Washington Bridge, from India St. in Providence to Warren Ave. in East Providence, is closed until Fall 2014 for rehabilitation. Cyclists can detour using Waterfront Dr. and the Henderson Bridge. Learn more »

Coventry: The Washington Secondary Path, Trestle Trail segment, from west of Town Farm Road to Log Bridge Road, is under construction and closed through Fall 2014.

South Kingstown/Narragansett: Repair work on the South County Bike Path beginning July 28, including pavement repair and new signage and striping. The bikeway will remain open at all times, but those using the path weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. may encounter work and will need to dismount and walk their bikes around construction areas. We expect to complete these improvements by late October. See map »
