In October the Transportation Management Center hosted two Highway Incident Quick Clearance Workshops sponsored by the I-95 Corridor Coalition. Traffic Incident Management (TIM) and Quick Clearance (QC) Laws, policies, and procedures are essential to improved incident management and safety--and the successful implementation of a Quick Clearance program is a tremendous benefit to the movement of individuals and freight throughout the corridor. These workshops provided the opportunity for responders and planners from the public and private sectors to work together and discuss best practices in use around the country and how they may benefit the travelling public in Rhode Island. Participants from Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New York representing Police, Fire, Emergency Management, Towing and Roadside Assistance, and Transportation gathered to improve the ability to respond and coordinate the quick clearance of highway incidents.
